Here are the steps to transfer the software yourself:

How to Move OLYMPUS Stream Software to a New PC

To move your OLYMPUS Stream installation to a new PC, you must know your license key(s), deactivate* them, download the correct version of OLYMPUS Stream software, and reactivate your license on your new PC (along with an upgrade license, if applicable). You can also save a configuration file to make the transition easier.

*Important: before deactivating your license, write down the serial number or product key of the license—either one will work. Be sure to save your license. It is useable on only one system at a time. If it is lost, we may not have the ability to recover it for you.

To find the serial number(s):

  1. Open OLYMPUS Stream software
  2. Click on Help in the Menu bar
  3. Select About
  4. Click on More System Info
  5. The first category is the license. Capture the serial number(s)
  6. Click on Close

To save your microscope configuration:

  1. Open OLYMPUS Stream software
  2. Click on Acquire from the Menu bar
  3. Hover over Devices
  4. Select Device Settings
  5. Look for the floppy disk icon and save the file to the desktop; give it a relevant name
  6. Check the configuration pulldown menu for any other configurations and save those accordingly
  7. Copy the saved files to a flash drive or network

Note: for newer versions of OLYMPUS Stream software, you can save a restore point that will capture all data about your OLYMPUS Stream installation.

To save a restore point:

  1. In OLYMPUS Stream software, click on Acquire from the Menu bar
  2. Hover over Devices
  3. Select Create System Restore Point
  4. Follow the Prompts and save the file to a flash drive or network

To deactivate your license:

  1. Open OLYMPUS Stream software
  2. Click on Help from the Menu bar
  3. Click on Deactivate License and follow the prompt
  4. The PC will need access to the internet to deactivate the license
  5. Once that is done, the license is free to use on another PC

To move your OLYMPUS Stream installation to a new computer:

  1. Go to olympus-ims.com/service-and-support/downloads/
  2. Scroll down until you see the section titled Olympus Stream
  3. Expand it and select the version of OLYMPUS Stream software applicable to your installation
  4. You will be asked to log on; create an account if you do not already have one
  5. If prompted for a serial number, you can use your license serial number or enter aaaaaaaaaaa (11 a's)
  6. The file is about 2.5 GB and may take a while to download depending on your internet connection

Note: If you have a firewire camera, it requires a specific firewire card. If you are replacing the computer, you must move the firewire card to the new computer. However, some older firewire cards are PCI, and most new computers do not have PCI slots anymore. If that is the case, you can purchase a new firewire card from Olympus that is vetted to work with your camera.

Some USB 3.0 cameras were shipped with a dedicated USB3 PCIe card. If you have that card, please move it to the new computer.

To install a new version:

  1. Log on to the Windows 10 PC with an Admin account
  2. Once the file is downloaded, load it onto the new Windows 10 PC
  3. Unzip the file
  4. Run the Setup.exe file with Admin privileges
  5. Follow the prompts
  6. If you are updating an existing Stream 1.8–1.9.4 installation to 2.2 or higher, you must enter the update license key into the installer along with your current 1.8–1.9.4 license key
  7. If you only have the serial number of the software license, call us and we can look up the license key for you

To restore the software configuration:

  1. Open OLYMPUS Stream software
  2. Click on Acquire from the Menu bar
  3. Hover over Devices
  4. Select Device Settings
  5. Look for the folder icon and load the .odc file to the flash drive or network
