This is a 5 day, 40 hour course course for level II or level III certified conventional UT inspectors and engineers, providing a springboard into phased array inspection processes.
The course provides training in the principles of phased array inspection, weld inspection, probe design, scanning techniques, focusing and beam steering, phased array instruments, instruments set up, element checks and calibration, data resolution and collection, software familiarity and data analysis.
Hands-on exercises will be performed to demonstrate the capabilities and imaging displays of phased arrays. Some individual set-ups may be possible. Students will learn how to use the Olympus OmniScan unit and student evaluations will be assessed through performance demonstration. We encourage all students to bring along their phased array equipment, if available, and samples of their defective specimens for evaluation.
