While instrument design factors like digital sampling rate will set the limits of range and accuracy for a given ultrasonic gages, the range and accuracy in a given application will be determined by the combination of gage, transducer, and setup being used, in addition to the material-related factors described in the previous section. Information on expected range and accuracy under defined test conditions should be available from the gage manufacturer.

It should be noted that precision gages using single element transducers will typically have higher inherent accuracy than corrosion gages using dual element transducers.
