The new 10.6 megapixel CMOS sensor used in the SC100 possesses 1.67 μm pixels which are delivering the best point to point resolution of any digital camera. Coupled with the 5 times magnification UIS2 objective from Olympus range, the obtainable resolution is the theoretical one.

No loss in sensitivity

A small pixel does not mean bad sensitivity
Although SC100 owns 1.67 μm pixels size, its sensitivity is comparable to the best CMOS camera available (in single pixel mode). In binning mode the sensitivity is even much better and breaks another barrier in 2.65 megapixel mode (2 times more sensitive than 3 megapixel CMOS cameras).

Live images, really live !

42 images per seconds for a real, smooth live imaging
At binning 4 times (968 x 686 pixels) the number of frames per seconds is up to 42. Up to 42 frames per seconds can be displayed and acquired in movie files*. Due to its full integration into OLYMPUS Stream, the switch between Live binning mode and single frame high resolution snapshots is completely transparent to the user.
