Post Subject: Ultrasonic thickness gauging
I want to check thickness of shells (about 3 mm thick) made of special material NIOBIUM using Olympus 35DL thickness gauge. Kindly suggest suitable probe and methodology for that.
Thanks.

Yes, that is a type of measurement that can usually be made with a Model 35 gage, using a proper transducer and setup. For a 3 mm metal thickness, the recommended transducer would typically be a V260 Sonopen, although if the radius after drawing is large it may also be possible to use other small transducers. Using a V260, the DEFM2-V260 default setup may be used as a starting point. It is possible that some gain and blanking adjustment may be required to optimize the setup. That would be determined by experimentation with samples of the parts to be measured.
