Installing the Firmware Update for Delta and GoldXpert

To update the firmware, you will need a PC running Windows, your XRF instrument, and a fully-charged battery or plug-in power supply. If you use Windows XP, you will need to have Microsoft ActiveSync 4.5 installed. For Windows Vista and Windows 7, you will need to have Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1 installed. If you are not sure whether or not you have one of these required programs, see the section titled Installing Microsoft ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center below.

1. Visit the page www.olympus-ims.com/en/downloads/ on the Olympus website, and follow the instructions to download the updater, Update_FW.exe
2. Turn on your instrument. When the radiation warning dialog appears, touch the Quit button. Connect your instrument to the PC using the supplied mini-USB cable. For Delta instruments, use the mini-USB port on the side of the instrument rather than the docking station or test stand. When the ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center window appears, do not click anything.
3. Run the Update_FW.exe program that you just downloaded. Click Install and wait for the firmware update window to appear.
4. When the window first appears, the Update button in the lower left will be disabled. After several seconds, the button should be enabled. If the button remains disabled or any error messages are displayed, try reconnecting your instrument.
5. Press the Update button. The update process will take 1-2 minutes. Do NOT disconnect or shut down the device while the update is in progress, or the instrument may be rendered inoperable
6. After the update, your instrument's screen should display a yellow Shutdown button. Touch the button and your instrument will turn off. Important: Make sure you press the yellow Shutdown button displayed on the screen. Do not use the instrument's power button or remote control software to turn off the instrument.
7. Disconnect the USB cable and turn your instrument back on. The update is now complete.
8. To verify that the update was successful, touch the Start button in the radiation warning dialog. Once the software finishes initializing, touch the titlebar at the top of the screen, to the right of the X logo. A dialog titled About InnovX will appear. Check that the line for PSM Firmware reports 3.64.0. Click OK to close the About dialog.

If you experience any problems while using the firmware updater, or if your instrument does not turn on after the update, please contact support.

Installing Microsoft ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center:

If you do not have ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center installed, please visit this page and follow the instructions to install the appropriate software before you continue. If you use Windows 7, make sure you choose the appropriate installer based on whether you have a 32-bit or 64-bit version of Windows. If you aren't sure, click on the start menu, then right-click "Computer" and choose "Properties". Under "System", your system type will be listed (64-bit or 32-bit).

3. Device Driver Installation procedure
   1. Double click the file [MALAD0403x64.exe] you saved in the folder in above procedure [2. Download] to open it. The file related with the device driver can be extracted.
   2. In the [Device Manager], select the [Other devices] and select the [Update Device Software]. Select the folder which is exacted at 2), and then follow the messages to install the device driver.
   3. Read installation details.
   4. If the installation of the device driver is not finished correctly and the exclamation mark is displayed on the icon in the [Device Manager], please see "here" for details.
4. DP-BSW or DP2-BSW Installaiton Procedure
   1. Install the [DP-BSW Ver3.3] or [DP2-BSW Ver.2.1 or later] after installation of the device driver. Please refer to "here" to confirm how to install [DP-BSW Ver3.3]. Please refer to Installation Manual to confirm how to install [DP2-BSW Ver2.1 or later].
      

      * The software cannot be installed unless the user account is registered as a "Computer Administrator".
      If the user account is registered as a "Restricted Account", change it to a "Computer Administrator" account.
      (For the user account registration, refer to the instruction manual for your PC.)

Older versions of DP25 camera drivers do not support Sleep mode of Windows Vista and Windows XP. This modification program updates your DP25 camera driver to the version that supports Sleep mode.
* "Sleep Mode" means the Sleep/Hibernate state of Windows Vista and the Stand-by/Hibernate state of Windows XP.

How to distinguish products requiring updating

If the version of your DP25 camera driver file "mv40dcam.sys" is 2.1.0027 or before, download this modification program and update your camera driver.
You can check your "mv40dcam.sys" version as follows:
For Windows Vista
(1)Right-click on [Start] - [Computer] and click [Properties] in the submenu shown.

(2)The following dialog box will appear. Click [Device Manager].

(3)The following dialog box will appear. Click the [Continue] button.

(4)Device Manager will appear. Double-click "OLYMPUS CORPORATION, camera core developed by SOFTHARD Technology…" just below Imaging Device.

(5)Click the [Driver Details] button in the [Driver] tab of Device Manager.

(6)Select "mv40dcam.sys" and check the file version. If the file version is 2.1.0027 or before, your camera driver needs to be updated.

For Windows XP

We found that noises were displayed on the acquired image when the digital color camera DP25 was used with some PC.
At this time, we prepared the update program to solve this phenomenon. In case that this defect is found, please kindly update the DP25 control software using this program.

2. Object Product

cellSens, DP2-BSW, DP2-TWAIN interface and DP25-TWAIN Interface which controls DP25.
* It applied to all versions for cellSens, DP2-BSW, DP2-TWAIN interface and DP25-TWAIN Interface.

3. Defect Phenomenon

Noises were displayed on the acquired image as below when the digital color camera DP25 was used in combination with certain PCs.

4. Defect Factor

Noises may occur on the image acquired by DP25 in combination with certain PCs when the CPU utilization rate is decreased. You will be able to solve this defect by enhancing the CPU utilization rate for using DP25.

5. Solution

Please download the update program and update the DP25 control software so that the defect is solved.
You may have a combination with PC which can not solve the defect condition even if you execute this update program. Please confirm here about the test results at our company. Please note that your PC may not always be listed in "list of compatible PC models for Digital Color Camera DP25"

6. Update program

This program updates cellSens, DP2-BSW and DP25TWAIN interface controlling DP25.
*Even after this update program was executed, it is not related to the version update for the DP25 control software (cellSens, DP2-BSW and DP25TWAIN interface) that you are currently using.

7. About Update

Problems on cases that use DP25 in combination with certain PCs were fixed.

WindowsXP SP3 modification program for the DP25

Some models of the DP25 do not support WindowsXP SP3(For details, please see here.). If you want to use such DP25 with WindowsXP, you must downgrade your IEEE1394 device driver to an older version. This modification program will change the IEEE1394 device driver updated by WindowsXP SP3 to an older version.

If you change the IEEE1394 device driver using this modification program, some unexpected faults may occur; for example, other IEEE1394 devices may not function normally. It is therefore strongly recommended that, after downgrading the IEEE1394 device driver, you avoid using any other IEEE1394 devices with that PC.

2. Installation procedure

1. Before installation
Before downloading this modification program, read the Program Copyright Notice and License Agreement. By downloading this modification program, you are indicating your consent to these terms.

2. Download
(1) Please enter all the required (*) fields below in order to download the software.
(2) Click on the [Download] button at the bottom of this page.

(3) When the [File Download] dialog box is displayed, click the [Save] button to download the file to the Desktop or other folder of the PC you selected to use with your DP25.

(5) You will find the procedure to apply this modification program file, "DP25IEEE1394RollBackManual_e.pdf," in the unzipped folder, "DP25IEEE1394RollBack_e." Follow the procedure given in the pdf file and change your IEEE1394 device driver.

This software is the installer for DP25 TWAIN interface "Ver1.4". If you need to import captured images by DP25 via the TWAIN interface, install it. If the old version (ver1.1, ver1.2) was installed, update the DP25 TWAIN interface to ver1.4.

* To use the TWAIN interface, the special application software which supports TWAIN is needed.
* You can confirm your DP25TWAIN version according to the following procedure.
Boot up the TWAIN interface. Click [Settings]-[Information]-[System information]. You can see your version in [Application]-[Product Version].

About modifications

Main modifications when the version is changed from Ver1.2 to Ver1.4.
·Windows Vista(32bit) compatible

* The word "T5" will appear next to the connector as below. The only DP25 Camera Head, which is operable under Windows Vista, is the one which has "T5" as below.

The other Camera Head than the above needs to update the firmware with charge. About the detail, you should contact the distributor.

·Problems on the White Balance area were fixed.
·Problems on the Shading compensation were fixed.

GageView V5.4.8.0 Updates and Improvements:

Modifications:

• An Export Waveform button was added to the survey view screen. This allows GageView to automatically export and create individual Bitmap files for all the ID# locations that contain a waveform in a survey file. The user can select the destination folder and GageView will create a sub folder with the same name as the survey file and the individual bBitmap files will be named for the corresponding ID# name.
• Enhanced Export to Excel (Waveforms) - Waveforms are now invluced with the survey file when exported to Excel. The user can move the mouse over an ID# location and any corresponding waveform will be shown. All waveforms will also be placed on a separate work sheet in the file. If the user double clicks on the ID# with that has a waveform a hyperlink will bring you to the corresponding waveform on the work sheet. Waveform images can be copied and pasted from the work sheet into other Windows Programs.

Bug Fix:

• Resolved an issue where waveforms were being drawn incorrectly due to compression.

38DLP v1.12 Updates and Improvements:   

Modifications:

• We significantly reduced the time required to save thickness reading to the internal datalogger. This allows user who are saving a thousands of thickness reading in boiler inspections to greatly decrease their inspection time.
• Added new smaller full screen ranges for the 5 MHz direct contact transducer. The minimum range was 0.00-0.500 in or 15.0 mm. The new software allows full screen ranges of 0.200 in. (5.0 mm), 0.300 in. (8.0 mm) and 0.400 in. (10 mm) when using the M110 and M109 transducers.

Bug Fixes:

• Fixed a bug related to calibration lock. When the calibration lock was turn on the Wave Adjust function were also locked. This has been corrected in the new software
• Fixed a FTP check sum calculation

45MG v1.05 Updates and Improvements:

Modification:

• Added a single send to the internal buffer to mimic a function in the MG2DL. 

Bug Fix:

• The setting for AGC On/Off was not saved on power off. If a user turned AGC off and then turned the 45MG off AGC would automatically turn back on when the unit was powered on.

Magna-Mike 8600 v1.05 Updates and Improvements:

• New Send Format (F10): This new output format allows the 8600 to send just the live or minimum thickness, depending if the minimum is turned on or off.  When the 8600 is set to F10 and the minimum is turned off the unit will send only the live thickness.
