Bond Testing

Bond Testing

As the use of composites as well as adhesive bonded joints in the aerospace, automotive, and other industries has increased, so has the need for testing bond integrity in products like honeycomb composites, carbon fiber composites, and metal/metal joints. The Sonic Bondmaster™ is a specialized instrument that utilizes three acoustic/mechanical techniques for bond testing: pitch-catch (measuring amplitude and phase changes in an acoustic wave traveling across a surface), resonance (based on changes in phase and amplitude in probe resonance), and mechanical impedance analysis (measuring the stiffness and mass of the material under test). Conventional ultrasonic flaw detectors can also be used for many bond tests and are especially useful in applications invoking thick parts or sonically attenuating materials, like plastic or rubber liners in metal pipes.

BondMaster™ 1000e+

The BondMaster™ 1000e+ is a versatile, full-multimode instrument offering pitch-catch, MIA (mechanical impedance analysis), and resonance modes. It is the only true multimode composite test instrument on the market.
