Course Description - Phased Array Advanced User

The PA Advanced User course will empower the technician to address problematic applications. The course is designed to convey inspection and analysis solutions to common and several unique applications. Numerous concepts and detailed inspection approaches will be covered providing the technician with how-to solutions using advanced features of phased array equipment and analysis software. The course will cover complex transducer configurations, in addition to issues experienced with problematic material properties and difficult geometry characteristics

  • Reporting and presentation of findings

Course Duration

5 days (40 hours)
50% class-room with power-point presentation component and feed-back
40% hands-on software (application data manipulation and examination/problem solving); includes 12 lab exercises
10% testing (daily quiz and final test includes class review)

Who and Why Attend

The course is designed for any Level II or III UT technician who is required to perform data analysis or is tasked with procedure and technique development. The benefit to the employer will be significant, as the graduate of this course will be capable of analyzing, solving and reporting clear comprehensive findings for those problematic NDT/NDE applications.

Requirements for successful completion

80% is required for successful completion and certification
Final pass mark is base on combined daily quiz marks and final exam

Course Equipment and Materials

A wide range of collected data sets will be examined along with an opportunity to interface the TomoView software to the OmniScan instrument. Several transducer and flaw samples will be available for hands on applications. OmniScan and TomoView software will be used for this course training.
